Approach ro Runway 18 {now 18 Center} at the Cincinnati    Northern Kentucky International Airport.

Interesting video from the passenger cabin of an Embraer airliner on approach to runway 18 {18C} at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport. The flight is along the final approach path that TWA Flight 128 would have taken on the night of November 20, 1967. Notice that shortly after the flaps have been lowered and are positioned for landing, the airliner crosses Ohio State Route 50 {near the river at 0.38 seconds} and continues to descend as it crosses the Ohio River. Moving over the Commonwealth of Kentucky, the aircraft quickly flies over State Route 8 {0.53 seconds} and then the hillside {0.59 seconds} where American Airlines Flight 383 came to rest on the evening of November 8, 1965. As the Embraer clears the hillside {1.01 minutes}, the plane is approximately over the spot where TWA Flight 128 first clipped trees before slidding through what is now an industrial park. At 1.09 minutes, the plane is approximately over the spot where TWA Flight 128 came to rest. At 1.21 minutes, the airliner is over the first section of the old Walton Road.

Boeing Wing Slats

This video demonstrates the wing leading edge slats on the Boeing 727 which gave the airliner the ability for rapid ascents and descents for short and intermediate term service between cities. This did allow for greater sink rates and may have been a contributing factor in the American Airlines flight 383 accident at CVG. The video includes views from the flight deck of the 727.
